Hello and wel­come to another edi­tion to our posts page.

Well, we have finally reached the fin­ish line!!!  Hoorah.  After a year and a half of cre­at­ing, com­pos­ing, edit­ing, re-editing, touch­ing up, pol­ish­ing, debat­ing, design­ing, re-designing etc we have finally got the fin­ished prod­uct that you have all been wait­ing for.

The sec­ond album from Kashi Kollective.

After a lot of debate about the design for this new album, and some help from planxde­sign down on the coast, we finally got the designs we were after and thanks to MPO in Madrid, the discs were printed this week and shipped.

Yes­ter­day I went down with my lovely part­ner Kim and we met the deliv­ery man.  We were won­der­ing how many boxes of cd’s will 1000 discs take up, and we were both wrong.  There were 40 boxes of 25 discs, ouch!  It filled the back of our car eas­ily and is now a new sound trap in my stu­dio!!  I hope to see these boxes quickly dis­ap­pear and pray that our fans world­wide will get out their cards and visit our shop page.

I have to say that things are much dif­fer­ent com­pared to the last album.  I was quite burned out after the first release and didn’t want to see the inside of the stu­dio for a month.  Now, how­ever, I am already deep into a new project of much more dance­able tracks, using some new tech­niques to twist and con­tort the sounds of the tabla.  Its a new sound that I haven’t heard any­where else, besides one track on a Talvin Singh album, so hope­fully it will take the world by storm.

Kashi Kol­lec­tive are near­ing the fin­ish line to com­plet­ing their new album, Shadow and Light.  After a solid year in the mak­ing, the album will be released within the next month on the web­site and world­wide through their label and dis­trib­u­tor, Ninewells Music Inter­na­tional based out of Asheville North Car­olina in the USA.

The album is ded­i­cated to the gen­res of Relax­ation, Chill Out, Ambi­ent Fusion and is an ideal accom­pa­ni­ment for all of your spir­i­tual prac­tices, includ­ing Yoga, Med­i­ta­tion, Chakra Heal­ing and Alter­na­tive Therapies. 

In con­trast with the first album, The Space Between, which is more of a jour­ney through sound­scapes and var­i­ous gen­res, incor­po­rat­ing beats at times and very tran­quil phsy­chodelic com­po­si­tions, Shadow and Light sticks to a strict formula.

This for­mula was devised by the com­poser, Stephen Bellm, and John Raw­sthorne, the pro­ducer.  Eth­nic per­cus­sion plays an inte­gral part that merges these com­po­si­tions together.  No elec­tronic beats or harsh sounds are included, just sooth­ing acoustic instru­ments and  easy float­ing melodies on woodwinds. 

The Kol­lec­tive are happy to include some very fine new artists into the mix.  From Rajen­dra Tere­de­sai, a Bansuri mae­stro from India, to Rafael Tejada, a fine per­cus­sion­ist from Spain.  Once you put this album on your player you will find your­self in peace, and the time flies by as each com­po­si­tion blends itself into your prac­tice or routine.
