Finca Zula Sun and Wind Pow­ered Stu­dio is a unique space where all of Kashi Kollective’s music is com­posed, mixed and mas­tered. Sit­u­ated at 1000 meters above sea level in the Sierra Nevada Moun­tains of South­ern Spain, the loca­tion is rich with inspir­ing views, peace, tran­quil­ity and luck­ily, a lot of sun and wind!

The stu­dio was built by the founder of Kashi Kol­lec­tive, Stephen Bellm and a builder friend in 2006. It’s a small addi­tion to the fam­ily home but sep­a­rate enough to cre­ate its own peace­ful envi­ron­ment. It is stuffed with instru­ments, from var­i­ous sets of tabla direct from India, to a Yamaha piano, gui­tars, man­dolin, tan­puras and var­i­ous drums.

Being far removed from the pueblo, the mains elec­tric com­pany has not found its way up the long moun­tain track. There­fore, it is a green stu­dio, pow­ered by large solar pan­els and a small yet effec­tive wind­mill. This green approach has its ben­e­fits and its draw­backs, but over­all it func­tions per­fectly well through­out the year and is a car­bon free alter­na­tive to mak­ing music.

The stu­dio is open for hire. Over the past few years var­i­ous musi­cians have enjoyed its idyl­lic loca­tion to record their songs and albums. As most urban stu­dios are win­dow­less spaces in base­ments, Finca Zula stu­dio is sur­rounded in light, trees, gar­dens and stun­ning views of snowy moun­tains to the north and the shim­mer­ing Mediter­ranean Sea to the South. Its also a per­fect space to record voice led prac­tices, such as med­i­ta­tions and holis­tic heal­ing sessions.

Stephen Bellm is a sound engi­neer run­ning Pro Tools and a col­lec­tion of Stu­dio appli­ca­tions to help you cre­ate a cus­tomized record­ing com­plete with any instru­men­ta­tion required. If you are in the area feel free to con­tact Stephen and come and visit the studio.
