Kashi Kollective were proud to work with NineWells, as well as being introduced and collaborating with one of India’s finest musicians, Rajendra Teredesai, a premier Bansuri player from Pune India.
The album is a clean representation of Indian fusion, utilizing the sounds of the tanpura, a classical Indian instrument, the background drone that is a strong foundation for all classical music. With solid tabla rhythms and arrangements that represent Indian ragas performed on piano, the album is a cohesive collection of beautiful sounds.
There is an even balance of performances from David Mages on Hulusi, the Chinese folk reed instrument, Saxophone and silver Flute, and Rajendra Teredesai’s heavenly Bansuri playing.
Kari Field joins the group again and produces a great performance on ‘Dreaming in Color’, another Alap based song.
The album aims at bringing these diverse instruments together as one into a seamless journey through the shadows and into the light.
